    Hi all,

i tried to upgrade our existing openDJ 3.0.0 to the new DS 5.0.0 with the procedure described in https://backstage.forgerock.com/docs/ds/5/install-guide/index.html#upgrade-ds. The upgrade path is supported and should therefore work, but by now i suspect the zip package of 5.0.0 is incomplete or broken.
As mentioned in the doc, i stopped the openDJ and unzipped the contents to /opt/opendj, then tried to run the upgrade script, which produces the following output:
    [email protected]:/opt/opendj# ./upgrade
ls: cannot access ‘/opt/opendj/classes’: No such file or directory
That’s correct, there’s no classes folder, only /opt/opendj/template/classes, which is empty though.
Trying to install a completely new DS server with the 5.0.0 package doesn’t work either, the setup complains about a missing /opt/opendj/config/java.properties file. If i put the file therebefore the setup, it complains about the config directory not being empty.

    Any help is appreciated.

    Hi Markus,

I will start with some basic checking to ensure we are on the same page.

/opt/opendj/classes should always be present on the OpenDJ installation directory.
Are you unzipping the DS 5 zip over the installation directory of OpenDJ?
What is the result of ls /opt/opendj prior to unzipping the DS 5 zip?

Concerning the installation of DS 5, normally the setup process copies “${INSTALLATION_DIR}/template/config” into “${INSTALLATION_DIR}/config”. Since “${INSTALLATION_DIR}/template/config/java.properties” exists, it normally gets copied to “${INSTALLATION_DIR}/config/java.properties”.

there seems to be no classes folder:

This is before unzipping v5, but after unzipping there is no classes folder either.
As for the setup of 5.0.0, i can’t see any files being copied, the /opt/opendj/config directory is empty when setup stops. I don’t have the message anymore, but can reproduce it if required.
