I want to install DS 6 from zip.

i have create an user opendj

i would like to know how can I configure the server to run as user opendj while listening to port 389 and 636 instead of 1389/1636 and avoiding to use firewall redirect ports

in linux you can drop privileges that is the way that openldap does with the user ldap or with the user www for apache.

should the setup script be done as root instead of user opendj? but I want the directory server to run as opendj on port 389 just like would do openldap.

    thank in advance.

Hi, we have a KB article discussing how to do this.

How do I make DS/OpenDJ (All versions) listen on port 389 without being root?

    Hope that helps!
