    We are able to initialize Opendj 2.6.1 search base country code with numeric values i.e.
    o=company1,c=1234

    But there are other LDAP Server wont allow initializing with numeric country code for eg.
    MS Active Directory
    Sunone ODDSE
    Siemens Dirx

    According to International Organization for Standardization (ISO) , for country code it should allow only two alphabet code listed in following link.
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ISO_3166-1_alpha-2

    As per the documentation , Opendj compliant with LDAPV3 .so it shouldn’t allow for country code which is not listed in iSO-3166 especially in this case where country code can be numeric value.

    Let me know your thoughts.

    Hi,

    By default, OpenDJ does enforce that only 2 printable characters are allowed for the CountryCode syntax (c attribute).
    If you can specify different format / syntax, it means that you have disabled syntax checking for the whole OpenDJ server.

    For maintainability, as country codes are changing often, we are not checking that the 2 characters actually represent a valid country. We are just checking that they are 2 letters.
