The Raspberry Pi is basically a Linux box in a small form factor so, depending on the size of the SD memory card you put on it, this should be a very straightforward thing to do.

An additional 3B batteries a year is an ecological disaster. And that’s on the low end. Extremely low-power and energy harvesting are going to be a requirement if IoT is going to be a success.

Apparently if I don’t start a topic here, no one will. :-) So I thought I’d plug this startup that is poised to change the landscape of IoT. Imagine what IoT would look like if devices didn’t need a battery? To give you some perspective, imagine what the IoT is going to look like if devices DO require a battery! I wrote a blog post about it…[Read more]

I’ve seen the demo you guys did for provisioning an IoT device via ForgeRock and it’s impressive. I was disassembling a device the other day that would be a perfect target for ForgeRock. Read about it here: http://davidgs.com/davidgs_blog/2015/disney-and-iot/ The difference is that these devices have no display for confirmation. But Disney…[Read more]

Ok, so I posted a movie version of it as well. The timings are a bit harder to handle, so you may have to hit pause/rewind if you miss something. Hope that helps. (Firefox on Mac didn’t have great resolution, but Chrome and Safari worked great.)

Hmmm … I’ve run it on Safari, Firefox and Chrome on Mac OS X, and it works, other than the fact that Chrome has abysmal HTML5 support and it is unreadable. Opera and Firefox on Windows 7 works too. On each of those, however, on the first load I get an error message, and I have to hit the ‘Back’ button and then hit ‘Start’ again, after which it…[Read more]

Back in 2005 I built an IoT device that monitored inside a fridge, and signaled light levels — finally answering the age-old question of “does the light ACTUALLY go off when you close the door?” But it just as

I commented on the bog post itself, but I thought maybe more discussion here might be interesting. The demo is awesome, and demonstrates some great possibilities with IRM and IoT. I was also interested in the use case on devices that don’t have any display or user interaction. After all, the market for devices like wearables is (at some level)…[Read more]

Given the (projected) size of the coming IoT market, IoT is going to be the leading driver for many many solutions from Identity management to security and authentication to applications. It will likely also drive some significant innovations in programming languages, API management and data analytics. Much as the internet revolution did in the…[Read more]

Thanks Aron! It would be a huge win for Makers. And for ForgeRock. What developers use to prototype is often what they continue to use later. URL: Ubiquity, Revenue Later. (h/t Scott McNealy)

It’s a very capable device, and I’ve gotten java installed and working. I’m pretty sure that writing applications that use the ForgeRock stack for authentication, etc. would be dead simple. I’m also pretty sure I could get at least some of the ForgeRock stack running on the device itself.
Not entirely sure I still have the motivation for the…[Read more]

So I got myself an Intel® Edison board last week, and I’m pretty impressed.
It runs a linux variant, and I think (think) it might actually be capable of running as a ForgeRock identity server. I installed Apache on it already. I’m about to install Java on it, and after that, I might…[Read more]
